In late 2020, as the first COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out to healthcare professionals, reports began to emerge of troubling injuries linked to the vaccine. Matthew Guthrie, an advocate and investigator into these reactions, reveals in a recent discussion the serious concerns that were raised internally before the public was even aware. According to Guthrie, numerous doctors, nurses, and trial participants had already experienced neurologic reactions and other severe injuries during the vaccine’s initial phases. However, despite these early signs, the public was not informed, and the efforts to raise awareness were repeatedly dismissed.
Guthrie’s shocking revelations come with emails that indicate agencies were already aware of thousands of neurologic reactions by the time the vaccines were administered to the general public. “We have emails that say, and I quote, ‘The agency is aware of thousands of neurologic reactions,'” he states. This information was kept from the general public, leaving many who experienced severe side effects from the vaccine feeling betrayed by the system that was supposed to protect them.
These injured individuals—many of whom were frontline healthcare workers—sought answers, but instead of being listened to, they were dismissed, or worse, gaslit. Doctors, nurses, and even patients who were part of the initial vaccine trials were flown to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for treatment and study, yet the media remained silent on this fact. “Where was that in the news? When did the public get to find out about these things?” Guthrie questions, pointing out the lack of transparency about these early warning signs.
The efforts to bring these issues to light did not stop there. A significant part of this story involves direct conversations with the FDA. As part of an initiative to bring greater attention to the injuries, a group called React 19—consisting of injured physicians and highly credible individuals—held meetings with the FDA. The goal was not to stop the vaccine from being administered, but to ensure that the public was fully informed about the potential risks involved.
The group’s main demand was simple: add clear warnings about vaccine-related injuries to the warning labels. “They just wanted people to have proper informed consent,” says Guthrie. “That was it. They weren’t trying to stop people from getting a vaccine. They just wanted to make sure that those getting the vaccine knew what they could be in for.” This would have allowed healthcare professionals to better identify and treat reactions such as myocarditis, which, once acknowledged, would help doctors provide better care and management for those affected.
The evidence of widespread injuries is staggering. Guthrie points to data from three major sources: the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). When these three datasets are compared, the rise in vaccine-related injuries, especially neurologic reactions, becomes undeniable. “When you compare all three of these datasets together, you see the exact same rises,” Guthrie explains. “If you’re right, then that tells you something. It’s not an anomaly. It’s repeating in different databases. Now you know this isn’t a coincidence.”
Despite the mounting evidence and the testimony of those directly affected, these conversations were largely ignored by the mainstream media, and public awareness remained minimal. The push for informed consent has been a long-standing battle, with those affected still seeking recognition and proper treatment for their injuries.
The ongoing struggle for transparency in the wake of the vaccine rollout underscores a critical issue in public health: the need for open dialogue and accountability when it comes to adverse effects. As more and more data comes to light, it’s essential for the public to understand the full scope of what happened—and for the agencies involved to be held accountable for the silence that has surrounded these injuries.
The hope now is that, through continued advocacy and the exposure of hidden truths, proper acknowledgment and support can finally be given to those who have suffered in silence since the beginning of the pandemic.
