It’s 2025, and Donald Trump is still setting the internet on fire — this time by threatening to strip Rosie O’Donnell of her U.S. citizenship. Yes, you read that right.
In a scorched-earth Truth Social post on July 16, Trump let loose on his longtime nemesis, labeling the comedian and actress a “traitor” and claiming she should “have her citizenship revoked immediately for crimes against the country.” What crimes, you ask? Well, it seems Trump is pointing to her vocal criticisms of his presidency, past and present, and her cozy ties with the Hollywood elite — whom he claims are nothing more than “America-hating communists in pearls.”
Rosie, for her part, hasn’t responded — yet. But if the past two decades of this feud are any indication, she won’t stay quiet for long.
Let’s be clear: Trump doesn’t actually have the power to revoke someone’s citizenship. Not unless you’re a naturalized citizen convicted of fraud or terrorism — and Rosie, last we checked, is neither. She’s as American as sarcasm and late-night talk shows. But facts don’t stop Trump when he’s on a rant. Especially not when it involves the woman he once called a “pig” during a 2006 TV appearance that basically kicked off this never-ending soap opera.
Trump’s latest outburst comes as he continues ramping up for another possible White House bid — and stirring up old enemies seems to be part of the campaign playbook. He’s gone after the usual suspects recently: Biden, the DOJ, the “fake news media,” and now Rosie, like it’s 2008 all over again.
Supporters cheered the move on Truth Social, with one user writing, “About time someone said it! She’s a disgrace!” while others called for her arrest or exile. Critics, meanwhile, slammed Trump’s post as authoritarian and unhinged.
The timing of the tirade also raises eyebrows. Just last week, Rosie O’Donnell appeared on a progressive podcast and slammed Trump’s immigration policies, likening them to “something out of Nazi Germany.” That comment may have triggered the MAGA boss, who’s been unusually sensitive to public criticism lately — especially from celebrities who once ruled the same media playground he did.
But here’s the thing: this feud isn’t just personal anymore. It’s symbolic. Trump’s threat, while legally toothless, is a warning shot — not just to Rosie, but to every critic with a microphone and a conscience. He’s making it crystal clear: if you’re not with him, you’re against him. And in his world, being against him might just make you un-American.
Whether you love Trump, loathe him, or simply can’t look away, one thing is clear: he hasn’t changed. The insults are still flying, the base is still eating it up, and the circus is still very much in town.
So, what do you think? Has Trump finally gone too far, or is this just another day in the American political reality show? And more importantly — if disagreeing with a president is now grounds for losing your citizenship… who’s next?
