Dan Bongino is an American conservative political commentator, radio host, author, and former law enforcement officer. Born on December 4, 1974, in Queens, New York, he served as a New York City Police Department officer from 1995 to 1999 before joining the United States Secret Service in 1999. During his tenure, he was part of the Presidential Protection Division under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

In the media realm, Bongino gained prominence as a conservative commentator, hosting “The Dan Bongino Show” podcast and the Fox News program “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino” until April 2023. He is also a New York Times best-selling author, with works including “Life Inside the Bubble” and “The Fight: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine.”

Politically, Bongino has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and has run unsuccessfully for Congress three times. Despite his criticisms of the FBI, referring to it as “irredeemably corrupt,” he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by President Trump on February 23, 2025. This role does not require Senate confirmation.

Bongino holds a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York and an MBA from Penn State University. He is married to Paula Andrea, with whom he has two daughters. In 2020, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma but announced later that year that he was cancer-free.

His appointment as Deputy Director has sparked both support from Trump allies and concern from Democrats, given his previous promotion of conspiracy theories and lack of prior FBI experience.
