Imagine waking up to your former president claiming that three of the world’s most powerful—and secretive—nations are plotting against the United States. That’s exactly what happened this week, and the Kremlin’s reaction is sparking debate from Washington to Beijing.
In a Truth Social post timed with Beijing’s massive World War II victory parade, former President Donald Trump congratulated Chinese leader Xi Jinping, while dropping a bombshell: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against the United States.” The post referenced America’s military losses and framed them as part of China’s “quest for Victory and Glory.”
The Kremlin wasn’t impressed. Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said he hoped Trump was joking. “Nobody is plotting any conspiracies here,” Ushakov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin. “Everyone knows the role the United States, the Trump administration, and the president personally play in current international affairs.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov echoed the sentiment, clarifying that Trump’s claims were likely figurative. “Nobody is hatching such plots,” he said, trying to diffuse the explosive suggestion.
Meanwhile, the parade itself was a display of global power alignment. Putin joined Xi and Kim, marking Russia-Pyongyang ties as “special allied” and holding talks on energy, trade, and regional cooperation after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Trump’s absence from the Beijing celebrations underlined the continued strain in US relations with China and Russia, fueled by trade wars, sanctions, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

This latest episode raises urgent questions: Was Trump warning of a real threat, or simply fueling a spectacle of geopolitical tension? Either way, the world is watching—and America may need to take notice.
