The Unifying Principle: Why Political Divisions in the US Cannot Be Mended
The Persistent Struggle of American Political Discord
I recently watched a documentary on the history of political discourse and division in the United States, which made me ponder how the conflicts of the past relate to the social battles Americans face today. From early disagreements among Founding Fathers over issues like the Sedition Act, central banking, and standing armies, to the catastrophic Civil War, America has rarely been of one mind. Despite this, there has been a longstanding belief that Americans will eventually find common ground and move forward together. But what if this ideal no longer holds true?
Revisiting America’s Golden Era: Fact or Fiction?
Some argue there was never a golden era for the US, labeling the nation as destructive, exploitative, or imperialist from the start. It’s easy to judge the past through the lens of modern sensibilities, but we must recognize that our perspectives differ vastly from those who lived in previous eras. Condemning historical figures without understanding their context is a mistake.
The political left often violates this principle by attempting to rewrite history according to their current ideologies, applying modern taboos to times when society had different views. The progressive philosophy rooted in “futurism” promotes abandoning old ideas for new methods, assuming that everything new is better. This theory, however, has never been entirely correct. Not every old idea is obsolete, and not every new method is superior. In fact, many ideas touted as new by leftists are merely repackaged old concepts, such as DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), which is just another form of Marxism focused on identity rather than class politics.
The Reality of DEI and Forced Association
DEI represents forced association, pushing populations into a homogeneous group with no individual thought or right to discriminate against harmful ideologies. If America is experiencing forced association, we must ask: What is the goal? Why push fundamentally opposed individuals to coexist? For central planners, usually socialists or globalists, tribalism is unacceptable. If people believe they can live separately, the establishment’s power diminishes. A one-world government requires the erasure of all divisions, compelling everyone to love or fear the enforcers of “unity.”
Separation is demonized because a population cannot be coerced into long-term association without a unifying principle. Historical political disagreements, even during the Civil War, involved parties with shared principles and morals. They held common values, a shared religion, and a similar understanding of reality. They were connected by the same American spirit, despite disagreements on specific issues. Their ultimate goal was the survival of America and its heritage. This is not the case in 2024.
The Unbridgeable Divide in Modern Politics
In today’s political landscape, reconciliation between woke progressives and conservatives or independents seems impossible. One side must prevail, and many Americans believe leftists should be the ones to go. It’s important to note that not all on the political left are the same. There is a spectrum from traditional liberals to extreme activists. However, woke zealots currently control the Democratic Party and leftist media, backed by major institutions from corporations to NGOs to government.
Average Democrats rarely criticize their side, even when they recognize wrongdoing, often due to laziness or fear. Conversely, conservatives struggle to organize due to constant disagreements on solutions. Then there are the fence riders, who avoid risk by pretending to be above the fray. However, there are times when one side is clearly right, and the other is utterly wrong.
A New Awakening Among Moderates
Many moderates are waking up to the dangers of collectivist movements. The pandemic lockdowns, attempted trans indoctrination of children, and the unhinged actions of far-left activists have made them realize that conservatives were right all along. Conservatives were fighting to protect freedoms while moderates questioned the fuss.
Core Disconnect: Building vs. Deconstructing
The core disconnect between conservatives and the political left is deep and disturbing. Conservatives aim to build and protect what works, while the left focuses on deconstructing what others have built. The best path for humanity is liberty with responsibility, free markets, and meritocracy—values conservatives strive to preserve, and leftists aim to destroy.
Progressives need to consider what happens after they destroy the last edifice. Their unifying principle of dismantling systems leaves them with nothing to build upon. This is where globalists differ from typical leftists. Globalists, though leftists at heart, are builders of prisons, not societies. Once the left deconstructs America, globalists plan to impose a new order based on worshiping them.
The Spiritual Impasse and the Role of Christianity
The greatest division lies in the spiritual nature of our impasse. Liberty can unify, but it must be combined with wisdom and a moral compass. America was built by a majority Christian society with integral Christian values. While religious freedom is essential, the country functions best when Christianity is at the forefront, providing a unifying moral code.
Reconciling Christian social systems with science and critical thinking is easier than reconciling freedom-loving Americans with far-left collectivists. The woke cult is more hostile to science than Christians today, even denying human biology. A renaissance could emerge, inspired by great Christian thinkers like Thomas Aquinas and C.S. Lewis.
The Conservative Shift and the Future
There’s a shift among conservatives towards valuing achievements over promises, embracing comedy and pop culture, and seeing science open doors to religious thought. As humanity explores quantum physics, cosmology, and mind sciences, our relationship to the metaphysical grows, balancing discovery with ethical responsibility.
This enrages progressives, who believe science must serve their causes or lose value. One of their primary goals is the erasure of Christianity, opposing a future where science and religion coexist to build an ethically responsible world.
The Moral Imperative
Many conservatives see the targeting of children for indoctrination and exploitation, the promotion of subjective reality, and the use of lies for political power as moral issues. For globalists and the woke mob, morality is a social construct, but most people have inherent moral values that prevent self-destruction. Leftists reject the necessity of a basic moral code, believing they can create reality from thin air. How can we live alongside those who despise the pillars of Western civilization?
The Unresolvable Conflict
The answer is simple: we can’t. Peace requires a unifying principle and mutual respect, which currently do not exist. Until these conditions change, there is no path to peace.
