Netanyahu acknowledges that Israel has not achieved its goal of minimizing harm to civilians in Gaza.

Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Israel is trying to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza but has been “not successful”, and is blaming Hamas.|The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has asserted that his country is making efforts to avoid harming civilians in Gaza, but unfortunately, these efforts have not been entirely effective. He has attributed this shortcoming to the actions of Hamas.

A panel of UN experts has accused Israel of conducting “genocide” and “war crimes”|A group of specialists from the United Nations has charged Israel with committing “atrocities” and “violations of international law”

Netanyahu told CBS that Israel would “try to finish the job” of wiping out Hamas in Gaza with minimal civilian casualties. He added: “That’s what we’re trying to do: minimal civilian casualties. But unfortunately, we’re not successful.”|Netanyahu stated to CBS that Israel’s goal is to completely eliminate Hamas’ presence in Gaza while making every effort to minimize harm to civilians. However, he acknowledged that this objective has proven challenging to achieve, as evidenced by the regrettable number of civilian casualties that have occurred.

ZeroHedge reports: He presented the context as one where Hamas was preventing civilians from leaving northern Gaza “at gunpoint”. He claimed that Hamas “fired at the safe corridors that we provided for the Palestinians.”|According to ZeroHedge, he described the situation as one in which Hamas was forcibly preventing civilians from exiting northern Gaza, using the threat of violence to keep them in place. He alleged that Hamas also fired upon the designated safe passageways that had been established for the protection of Palestinian civilians.

Israel has dropped hundreds of thousands of leaflets over Gaza in the past weeks, warning civilians to exit northern Gaza, which includes the highly populated Gaza City, and move to the south. But just this week Israel has also told areas in the south to evacuate too. Palestinians have said they have nowhere to go, as the Rafah crossing to Egypt remains closed to all but foreign passport holders.|Over the past few weeks, Israel has dispersed numerous leaflets over Gaza, informing the residents in the northern region, including the densely populated Gaza City, to leave and relocate to the southern areas. However, this week, Israel has also instructed individuals in the southern regions to evacuate. Palestinians have voiced their concerns about lacking alternative options, as the Rafah crossing to Egypt is inaccessible to them except for individuals with foreign passports.

“Any civilian death is a tragedy. And we shouldn’t have any because we’re doing everything we can to get the civilians out of harm’s way, while Hamas is doing everything to keep them in harm’s way,” Netanyahu explained.|Netanyahu clarified that every loss of civilian life is a lamentable event. Our utmost efforts are focused on ensuring the safety of civilians and removing them from dangerous situations. In contrast, Hamas is actively working to expose them to harm.

Palestinian officials have sought to refute the Israeli/US narrative framing of the Gaza crisis at the UN:|

The White House has very belatedly begun to warn Israel it must exercise restraint when it comes to “targets” like Al-Shifa Hospital. Israel now has military control of it, but many Palestinians have remained inside.

According to Al Jazeera, at least 22 mostly ICU patients have died overnight. A Friday report cites Al-Shifa Director Muhammed Abu Salmiya who says that “7000 people — patients, medics and other civilians seeking shelter — are trapped in the hospital, and the complex remains cut of from water, electricity, and communications.”
