ICE Deletes Posts Exposing Deportations of Ukrainians During Zelensky’s Washington Visit

The truth slipped out — and then it vanished.

Just as Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was in Washington rubbing shoulders with Donald Trump, NATO leaders, and EU officials, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) quietly posted photos of Ukrainians being deported back home. Hours later, those posts disappeared without explanation.

The now-scrubbed images, uploaded to ICE’s official X and Facebook accounts, showed several deportees in civilian clothing standing before Ukrainian border guards. The caption was blunt: “Here are photos of Ukrainian aliens’ first moments back home following their removal from the United States.”

But then — nothing. The photos were gone.

The timing couldn’t be more damning. While Zelensky begged for more Western support and discussed “security guarantees” in Washington, U.S. authorities were literally shipping his countrymen back across the border. The optics? Disastrous. The message? Clear: America may be done with its Ukrainian experiment.

Under Trump’s immigration crackdown, ICE has proudly showcased deportation operations — often highlighting violent criminals being sent home. This time, however, the agency’s transparency backfired, clashing with the official narrative of unwavering support for Kiev.

Ukraine, meanwhile, faces its own crisis. With over a million men fleeing the draft, lawmakers in Kiev are scrambling to plug holes in the military ranks. Parliament has already passed laws expanding conscription, trying to trap more military-aged men inside the country. Every deportation from the U.S. only tightens that noose.

Andrey Demchenko, spokesman for Ukraine’s Border Guard Service, struck a diplomatic note, reminding reporters that every nation has “the sovereign right” to deport illegal migrants. But behind the polite rhetoric is a harsher reality: Ukrainians abroad are running out of places to hide.

The sudden deletion of ICE’s posts raises obvious questions. Was Washington trying to avoid embarrassing Zelensky during his visit? Or does this signal something bigger — a shift in U.S. policy, where deportations are no longer just about “illegal aliens” but about forcing Ukraine’s men back into the meat grinder of war?

One thing is certain: the cracks in the carefully staged U.S.-Ukraine alliance are beginning to show, and not even deleted photos can hide them.
